Oahu Nightlife: Where To Go

The Oahu nightlife is hot, varied and exciting and picks up speed when the sun sets. Each of the Hawaiian islands is special. Each has its special draw and a different way of life. Certainly, there is nothing like Oahu, which has not only an exciting urban vibe in Honolulu but also a slower life in the country along its north and windward coasts.

Beachfront Bars in Honolulu

Oahu Nightlife Beachfront bars at Waikiki offer ample opportunities to view the glorious Hawaiian sunsets.

House Without A Key at the splendid Halekulani Hotel was immortalized in a 1925 Charlie Chan novel. Crowds gather for sunset cocktails, Hawaiian music and graceful hula performed by two dancers who were previously crowned Miss Hawaii.

Another long-time favorite in the Oahu nightlife is Duke’s Canoe Club at Waikiki Outrigger Club. Here you can listen to music by big name contemporary Hawaiian musicians while sipping mai-tais in the company of other vacationers.

Onward to the Aloha Tower where diners tap to live musicians playing rhythm and blues at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant by the waterfront. Contemporary Hawaiian rock musicians play on weekends. Otherwise, from Monday-Wednesday, you can get between $1-$5 off your drinks and martinis during happy hours while noshing on delectable yet cheap pupus of egg rolls, tapas or mini-pizzas.

Romantic Oahu Nightlife on the Water

Oahu Nightlife A sunset dinner cruise is one of the most popular (and affordable) entertainments.

Whether you choose a cruise aboard the sleek Navatek vessel enjoying stunning views of the multi-million dollar Kahala Gold Coast, or a romantic evening aboard Star of Honolulu, a delicious dinner and dancing to the rhythms of a live band with hula dancers is a great way to end your day!

After a grand departure from from Honolulu's historic Aloha Tower, you are served exotic cocktails while enjoying spectacular views of Diamond Head, Kahala Gold Coast & Koko Head...

Then, while enjoying live entertainment, you have a choice of either a Hawaiian buffet or a multiple-course dinner including smoked salmon, steak, lobster and chocolate mousse.

Good seats are limited, so make sure you don't miss this fabulous multi-sensory experience - reserve your seats online.

Exceptional Dining and Outstanding Music

Oahu Nightlife When you dine at Chai’s Island Bistro, you will understand why it is one of the hottest spots in the Oahu nightlife!

Enjoy here exceptional East-West cuisine and a stellar lineup of Hawaiian musicians such as the Makaha Sons, Cazimero Brothers and Nathan Aweau of Hapa. On weekend nights, it doubles up as a disco till the early morning hours.

After dark in Oahu is as hot as the sun is during the day.

Pipeline, a warehouse turned disco, fits in 1,500 clubbers aged 18 and over, most being surfers from around the world. Try your hand at darts, pool and dance when not listening to big local and national names such as Black Eyed Peas, Evanescence and Ziggy Marley perform at concerts.

Jazz is a favorite in Oahu Nightlife

The Oahu nightlife caters to all tastes. If you're a jazz lover watch out for:
  • Nightly jazz at Duc’s Bistro (except on Thursdays when Hawaiian singer Mihana Souza brings her own rendition of island music to the mike), and
  • Lewers Lounge at the Halekulani for contemporary jazz and cocktails made from scratch with fresh juice and exotic tropical flavors, such as lychee and guava
Oahu Nightlife If after lying on the beach all day, you are up to dancing all night, Anna Bannanas is the place for you!

Still going strong after 30 years, it is a much loved Oahu hangout for its cheap drinks specials. Clubbers converge on weekends to dance to the music of rock and reggae bands.

You can hang loose at Lulu’s Surf Club. It has a retro-surf atmosphere and a priceless view of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. Steps away from the beach, you can have great food and drinks from 7am till 4am.

The Oahu nightlife is a little more laid back and more casual than it is in New York or Los Angeles but is as hip and as fun. Start with a tribute to the glorious Pacific sunset; in this tropical paradise, the night is always young.
