Honolulu Shopping
Discover the Best Shops in Honolulu!

You simply can't miss Honolulu shopping! From funky island wear to fashionista chic, you can find something for everyone.

In the past few years, this cosmopolitan city has undergone a $1 billion makeover in the famed Waikiki area. Ugly blocks of concrete have gone to be replaced by green open spaces, groves of coconut trees, and a retail mix offering upscale couture, mainstream brand names and the ubiquitous souvenir stores. But even those have had a matching face lift too!

Waikiki Beachwalk

Honolulu Shopping The largest development in Hawaii’s history, the newly opened Waikiki Beachwalk comes with a price tag of more than US$500m!

More than 50 stores, including fully locally owned Mana Hawaii which sells local musical instruments and art, have opened here, breathing new and glitzy life into a formerly dreary Lewers St.

Throw into the mix coffee and gelato bars, nightclubs and supmarket restaurants, including those of local celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi, this is the new epicenter in Honolulu shopping.

Against a backdrop of renovated condos and hotel rooms, with the Trump Tower Waikiki to open later in 2009, are large green spaces beautifully decorated with water fountains and performance stages for free concerts by local artists every Sunday from 5-6pm.

A Hawaiian Landmark Revisited

Not be outdone in the stakes for glitzier Honolulu shopping is the landmark Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center - make sure you don't miss it! A renewal at a price tag of $84 m has turned it into a visually inviting and expanded open air shopping mall with 110 shops and restaurants. A 760 seat-theater doubles as a hip nightclub for 1,000 clubbers.

Stock up on souvenirs at Hilo Hattie, the largest manufacturer of Hawaiian fashions. Hilo Hattie’s new flagship quarters is the stop for muu-muus, colorful aloha shirts and the inexhaustible range of Hawaiian memorabilia of coconut handicrafts, conch necklaces, locally made jams and preserves, floral leis and just about anything you can imagine!

Hawaii's Biggest Flea Market

Honolulu Shopping
For a truly unique local experience in Honolulu shopping, hang out with the locals and tourists three days a week at the Aloha Stadium swap meet. On Wednesdays and weekends from 6 am-3pm, the stadium is flooded with more than 700 vendors.

Browse through beach gear, old Hawaiian license plates, Hawaiian quilts, fine and vintage jewelry, locally made bath and body products with Hawaiian ingredients, old CDs and original works by local and international craftsmen and artisans.

In need of a break? Stop for a delightfully ice-cold Hawaiian shave ice!

For a new take on the iconic Aloha shirt, check out “For Locals Only” at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, for many years the premium destination in Honolulu shopping. In this store, you can find exclusive vintage style aloha shirts using reproduced prints from the golden years of 1940-1950s - many of these are limited editions.

Need more choices? Bailey’s Antique Store has 15,000 new, used vintage and specialty shirts for you to choose from.

Room For More? Make Stops At:

  • Waikele Premium Outlets has 50 designer brands at discounted prices

  • Ward Farmers Market – daily fresh market is a good sightseeing experience and introduction to Hawaiian and Asian ingredients and dishes

  • Diamond Head Farmers Market – only locally grown produce here; its large base of fans clamor among food vendors selling fried green tomatoes and beignets with lilikoi jams
