What Activities on Oahu Would You Pick?

Believe it or not, there are countless tours and activities on Oahu that will take your breath away... Find on this page ideas for Oahu sightseeing, information about places to visit, things to do and tips for the best Oahu activities!

Activities on Oahu

Hawaii’s most populated island, Oahu is a perfect vacation paradise for families with children who want to build sandcastles on Waikiki beach...

...and for thrill-seekers alike!

No wonder it continues to lure millions of visitors from around the world each year!

Known especially for its bustling metropolis, Honolulu, Oahu is an excellent choice if you like to be in the ‘thick of things’.

Whether that is taking a sunset sail out of Ala Moana Harbor, paying your respects at the USS Arizona and USS Missouri memorials at Pearl Harbour, shopping on buzzing Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki, or getting lost in the Dole Plantation’s pineapple maze (listed in Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest), there are plenty of exciting things waiting for you here!

From thrilling helicopter and sailplane flights, visiting historic sights, the scenic North Shore & Hanauma Bay, the Sea Life Park, and the Polynesian Cultural Center to off-road hummer tours, sunset dinner cruises, magical luaus, waterfall hiking, snorkeling, boogie boarding and dolphin adventures – you can experience all these activities on Oahu and many more.

Take your pick here:

The possibilities awaiting you here are endless. Combined with Oahu’s plentiful beaches, historic Waikiki hotels, and world-renowned golf courses, the best oahu activities make a week-long visit feel all too short.

Along with these popular attractions, super sensational activities on Oahu include:

  • catamaran cruising alongside dolphins, green sea turtles and magnificent humpback whales

  • swimming with stingrays

  • descending into the deep aboard Atlantis XIV, the world's largest hi-tech passenger submarine

  • water jet skiing

  • seeing the splendour of Hawaiian sharks (from the safety of special, plexiglass-protective cages) as they rise from the depths to greet you

And of course, surfing. There’s no talking about the activities on Oahu without mentioning it!

Activities on Oahu

Ask any surfer: Oahu’s North Shore is a place truly blessed with great waves and swell.

The swells can be anywhere from 10 to 30ft - now that’s big surf!

The location of its breaks makes surfing here a fantastic spectator sport as well.

Drive out to the North Shore, which is famous for its professional surf competitions (especially from October through March) and enjoy the show on beaches with such names as "Jaws", "Banzai Pipeline" and "Sunset Rip".

But there’s more in Oahu. You can find family fun everywhere!

Take your kids to Sea Life Park where they can pet or even swim with friendly dolphins, hand-feed a sea lion or swim next to a ray. The family-friendly Hawaii Aquarium (founded more than 100 years ago, in 1904), houses more than 420 marine species, maintains more than 2,500 exhibits, and is also home to 2 endangered Hawaii monk seals.

And, don’t forget to unwind and enjoy Oahu sightseeing...

Barely minutes away from Honolulu’s soaring landscape, you can hike down a lush mountainside. Explore the hiking trails that lead to breathtaking lookouts. On clear days, you can see the islands Molokai and Lanai across the channel. During the winter and early spring months, you can see humpback whales young calves breaching & playing--it’s a remarkable sight!

This list of activities on Oahu could go on and on... Go ahead, take your pick here!
